Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Caerphilly Primary School
Start Date: After February Half Term
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Caerphilly. This role is ideal for a Level 4 or 5 qualified Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting learning across the school and covering PPA time when required.
You will work both as a classroom Teaching Assistant and step into a HLTA role to lead learning in the absence of the class teacher across both KS1 and KS2.
Requirements:
*Level 4 or Level 5 Teaching Assistant qualification
*Experience working within a primary school setting
*Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
*Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
*Strong classroom management and communication skills
*Flexibility and confidence to work across different classes


Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Teaching Assistant (TA):
*Support pupils’ learning in line with the teacher’s planning
*Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning
*Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of resources
*Provide support for pupils with additional learning needs
*Promote positive behaviour and engagement
*Help monitor and record pupil progress
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA):
*Deliver planned lessons during PPA cover across different classes
*Manage the classroom independently in the teacher’s absence
*Adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of all learners
*Assess, record, and report on pupil progress during cover sessions
*Support curriculum delivery across a range of subjects and key stages
*Provide feedback to teachers on pupil performance and behaviour
