Health Care Assistant – Torbay
Pay: £17.00 per hour
Job Types: Full-time | Part-time | Flexible Zero-Hour Contracts
This role involves supporting children and adolescents with conditions such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and other additional needs. You will play a vital role in helping young people feel safe, understood, and supported in their daily lives.
The Role
As a Mental Health Healthcare Assistant, you will:
*Provide consistent emotional support and reassurance to children experiencing anxiety, distress, or behavioural challenges.
*Support children with autism and ADHD to manage routines, transitions, and sensory sensitivities.
*Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, mealtimes, hygiene, and maintaining a structured routine.
*Implement behaviour support plans and positive behaviour strategies in line with care plans.
*Safely manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours using PMVA techniques where necessary.
*Maintain accurate, clear, and timely records of care provided and incidents.
To be successful, you’ll need:
At least 1 year of healthcare assistant experience in the UK
Enhanced DBS
A valid PMVA certificate (or willing to obtain this)
Experience with:
*Mental Health support for children and adolescents
*Challenging behaviour
*Medication administration
Safeguarding Level 2 or 3
A DBS registered on the Update Service
Valid Manual Handling & Basic Life Support training
