Job Description:
Senior Associate Solicitor | Contentious Trusts & Probate | Legal 500 London Powerhouse
An exceptionally well connected, Legal 500 recognised London firm is seeking a Senior Associate Solicitor to play a key role within its highly regarded Private Client team. With a strong presence across London and a reputation for handling complex, high value matters, this firm offers an outstanding platform for ambitious senior lawyers looking to step into a leadership position.
Working closely with a leading Partner, you will take on a pivotal role overseeing the Contentious Trusts & Probate team, driving performance, shaping strategy, and delivering an exceptional client experience. This is a rare opportunity to make a tangible impact within a growing and forward thinking firm.
The Role
You will handle a varied and high quality caseload of complex private client disputes, acting for individuals, executors, trustees, and beneficiaries.
Your work will include challenges to the validity of wills including issues of capacity and undue influence, disputes involving executors and trustees such as breach of duty and maladministration, Inheritance Act claims, estate administration disputes, trust disputes, and proprietary estoppel claims.
Alongside your own caseload, you will oversee the day to day running of the team, supervising solicitors, trainees, and paralegals. You will mentor junior team members, support their development, and ensure high standards of client care and technical delivery.
You will work closely with clients, taking instructions and managing expectations with sensitivity and professionalism. You will also play an active role in business development, identifying opportunities to strengthen client relationships and expand the firm’s presence in this specialist area.
The Candidate
You will be a qualified Solicitor with at least 6 years’ experience in contentious trusts and probate matters, with a strong track record of handling complex disputes independently.
You will bring proven leadership experience, with the confidence and ability to supervise and develop a team. Strong client handling skills are essential, alongside a commercial mindset and a genuine interest in contributing to the growth of the practice.
You will be an excellent communicator, highly organised, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast paced environment. A high level of empathy, discretion, and professionalism is key when dealing with sensitive client matters.
The Firm
This long established yet progressive London firm has built an outstanding reputation since 1976, advising individuals, businesses, and charities across a broad range of legal disciplines. With multiple offices across London, the firm combines a boutique, relationship driven culture with the strength and reach of a major regional player.
The Private Client team is particularly well regarded for its expertise in complex disputes, offering high quality work within a collaborative and supportive environment. The firm is continuing to grow at pace, making this an exciting time to join and contribute to its ongoing success.
What’s on Offer
Competitive salary with target related bonus
25 days holiday plus birthday and Christmas closure
Pension and Group Life Assurance
Strong wellbeing programme and Employee Assistance support
Ongoing training and development opportunities
Regular social events and firm wide initiatives
Cycle to Work scheme
This is a standout opportunity for a senior contentious probate lawyer seeking high quality work, genuine leadership responsibility, and long term progression within a leading London firm.
