We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business in Livingston who are looking for a qualified Management Accountant to be their go-to finance partner. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where your insight will genuinely influence decisions across the business. You’ll be joining a busy, collaborative finance team and working closely with operations and commercial colleagues - translating figures into actions and helping drive performance.
What you’ll be getting stuck into
Management Reporting & Insight
*Producing monthly management accounts with clear, meaningful commentary
*Analysing revenue, margins, costs and key drivers across UK entities
*Variance analysis vs budget, forecast and prior year
*Turning numbers into insights that non-finance colleagues actually understand
Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
*Supporting budgets, forecasts and reforecasts
*Maintaining and improving financial models (including scenario analysis)
*Working with operational teams to reflect real-world trading
*Spotting risks and opportunities before they become headaches
Business Partnering
*Acting as a trusted finance partner to operational and commercial teams
*Supporting pricing decisions, cost control and margin improvement
*Challenging assumptions (constructively!) and encouraging accountability
*Championing financial awareness beyond the finance function
Cost Control & Margin Focus
*Digging into materials, labour, overheads and logistics costs
*Identifying efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities
*Supporting initiatives to boost gross margin and performance
*Monitoring KPIs like margin %, cost per unit and volume trends
Working Capital & Cash
*Analysing debtors, creditors and inventory performance
*Supporting cash flow forecasting and variance analysis
*Assisting with invoice discounting reporting and reconciliations
Month-End & Reporting Excellence
*Supporting the month-end close and key journals
*Ensuring data accuracy across management reporting
*Working closely with Financial Accounting for aligned reporting
Systems & Process Improvement
*Improving reporting packs, dashboards and templates
*Helping embed Business Central and reporting tools
*Driving automation, efficiency and better data integrity
Supporting Finance Leadership
*Providing insight to the CFO and Financial Controller
*Supporting business cases, strategic projects and investments
*Getting involved in ad-hoc deep dives that really matter
What we’re looking for
*Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
*Solid background in management accounting and analysis
*Manufacturing or multi-entity experience (highly desirable)
*Strong Excel skills and ERP experience (Business Central a plus)
*Good knowledge of UK accounting standards and VAT
*Comfortable juggling priorities and working independently
