Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their payroll team on an 8-week temporary contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional to support a large, complex organisation during a busy period, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services.
The role will be based on-site and offers flexible working hours across a standard 36.25-hour working week.

Your new role
*Processing end-to-end payroll for a large workforce, ensuring accuracy and compliance with payroll regulations
*Managing payroll calculations including salaries, overtime, allowances, statutory payments, and deductions
*Ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements including PAYE, NIC, and pension contributions
*Handling payroll queries from employees in a professional and timely manner
*Maintaining accurate payroll records and ensuring data integrity
*Supporting payroll reporting, reconciliations, and audits as required
*Working collaboratively with HR and Finance teams to resolve payroll-related issues
*Assisting with process improvements and maintaining payroll best practice
What you’ll need to succeed
*Previous experience in a payroll role, ideally within a large or complex organisation
*Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and compliance
*Experience using payroll systems and handling high-volume payroll processing
*High attention to detail with excellent numerical and organisational skills
*Ability to manage deadlines and work accurately under pressure
*Confident communicator with a professional and customer-focused approach
What you’ll get in return
*Competitive salary between £30,000 - £33,000 (pro rata)
*Full-time hours: 36.25 per week
