Job Description:
Portfolio are pleased to be working in partnership with a great new client - they are on the hunt for a confident, experienced Payroll Specialist ready to take full ownership of our UK payroll function. If you’re the kind of person who can run payroll end-to-end with precision, solve problems before they land, and thrive as the go-to expert in a standalone role, this is your next challenge.
You’ll manage every stage of the payroll cycle, weekly and monthly, from data collection and validation through to gross-to-net calculations, statutory payments, deductions, RTI submissions, pensions, and year-end reporting. You’ll be the person who ensures accuracy, compliance, and calm, even when deadlines compete.
As the payroll lead, you’ll also support HR operations, helping shape processes, data structures, and reporting from the ground up.
We’re looking for someone who brings:
*Start-to-finish payroll mastery across multiple cycles
*Confidence to operate in a sole-charge role, owning decisions and outcomes
*Strong knowledge of HMRC, RTI, statutory payments, pensions, and UK payroll legislation
*Advanced Excel skills for reconciliation and reporting
*A process-driven mindset with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
*The ability to partner effectively with HR and Finance
*Integrity, confidentiality, and a calm, solutions-focused approach
If you’re ready to take the reins, lead payroll with confidence, and help build a smarter, more integrated HR and payroll function, then do get in touch!
