Mechanical Fitter / Hydraulic Technician
UK-based (Workshop + Site Travel)
£35,000 - £38,000 + Overtime (1.5x)
Full-time | 38 hours | Day shifts | Flexible hours
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established engineering client specialising in hydraulic systems and mechanical assemblies. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Fitter or Hydraulic Technician to join a growing team, working both in-house and on customer sites across the UK (with occasional international travel).
The RoleThis is a varied, hands-on position involving the assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of hydraulic and mechanical systems.
Key responsibilities include:
*Assembly and testing of hydraulic power units (HPUs), cylinders, manifolds, and associated pipework
*Conducting quality checks to ensure systems meet technical and safety standards
*Supporting factory acceptance testing (FAT) and preparing equipment for dispatch
*Installation of mechanical and hydraulic systems at customer sites
*Fitting components such as motors, gearboxes, and bearings to specification
*Carrying out hydraulic flushing, pressure testing, and commissioning
*Fault finding, root cause analysis, and ongoing servicing work
*Performing both reactive and planned maintenance
*Producing detailed service and installation reports
*Maintaining accurate records for build, test, and service traceability
About YouWe’re looking for someone with a strong mechanical background and experience working with hydraulic systems.
Essential:
*Mechanical apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
*Practical experience with hydraulic systems
*Solid understanding of hydraulic principles
*Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
*Willingness to travel for site-based work
