Job Description:
About the OpportunityOur client, a well-established and forward-thinking dental practice, is seeking an experienced and motivated Lead Dental Nurse to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated professional looking to take the next step in their career, combining clinical excellence with team leadership and operational support.
As a Lead Dental Nurse, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of outstanding patient care while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice. You will also take responsibility for mentoring and supervising the nursing team, fostering a positive and high-performing environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Support*Prepare and maintain clinical areas in line with infection control, health & safety, and manufacturer guidelines
*Ensure all instruments and equipment are sterilised, maintained, and safe to use
*Provide high-quality chairside assistance to clinicians
*Prioritise patient comfort, safety, and overall experience
*Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records
Compliance & Safety*Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including PPE, COSHH, infection control, and waste management
*Safely handle substances and dental materials
*Support radiography processes, including developing and maintaining records
*Manage laboratory work records, including tracking items sent and received
Stock & Administration*Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels within surgeries
*Liaise with the Practice Manager regarding ordering supplies
*Ensure all patient and practice records are accurately maintained and securely stored
*Work closely with reception to ensure seamless patient communication
Team Leadership & Practice Support*Supervise and support Dental Nurses on a daily basis
*Manage rotas and reallocate duties during staff shortages
*Oversee completion of daily checks and procedures
*Support onboarding and training of new team members
*Mentor and develop less experienced staff
*Assist in other areas of the practice, including reception when required
*Attend and contribute to team meetings
Professional Development*Maintain and develop clinical knowledge and skills through ongoing training
*Attend mandatory training, including CPR and medical emergencies
*Ensure continued compliance with professional standards and codes of conduct
*Maintain GDC registration, including CPD requirements and annual renewal
About You*Qualified and GDC-registered Dental Nurse
*Previous experience in a senior or supervisory role (preferred)
*Strong leadership and mentoring skills
*Excellent communication and organisational abilities
*A proactive, patient-focused approach
*Commitment to continuous professional development
