Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - SEMH School, Canterbury
Academics are working with a specialist SEN school in Canterbury that supports students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school provides a structured, nurturing environment where pupils are encouraged to re-engage with education and develop both academically and personally.
The Role: Learning Support Assistant
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students both in and out of the classroom. You will work closely with teaching staff to manage behaviour, build positive relationships, and help pupils access their learning in a meaningful way.
Key Responsibilities: Learning Support Assistant
*Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
*Support pupils in managing their emotions and behaviour
*Assist the class teacher with delivering engaging lessons
*Help create a safe, consistent, and supportive learning environment
*Build strong, trusting relationships with students
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
*Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs
*A calm, patient, and resilient approach
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills
*A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
*Experience in education, care, youth work, or similar settings (desirable but not essential)
