About the School
The site includes a range of teaching spaces, outdoor play areas, and facilities used by both the school and, at times, the wider community. The school places high importance on maintaining a well-presented, safe, and secure environment that reflects its values and supports high-quality education.
Hours of Work
*Mon & Fri:
6:30am – 11:00am and 2:30pm – 6:00pm
*Tues to Thurs:
6:30am – 10:00am and 2:30pm – 6:00pm
Purpose of the Role
To take responsibility for the operational management, maintenance, and security of the school site, ensuring a safe, clean, and fully functioning environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. The Site Supervisor plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the school by maintaining high standards across all areas of the premises.
Key Responsibilities
Site Security
*Open and close the school premises daily in line with school procedures.
*Act as a key holder and respond to alarm activations or emergency call-outs as required.
*Conduct regular security checks across the site, including buildings and grounds.
*Ensure all access points are secured outside of school hours.
Maintenance & Repairs
*Carry out routine maintenance, minor repairs, and general DIY tasks.
*Monitor the condition of the buildings and grounds, identifying and reporting defects.
*Liaise with external contractors and supervise works to ensure safety and quality.
*Support the upkeep of outdoor areas to maintain a safe and tidy environment.
Health & Safety Compliance
*Ensure the school complies with all relevant health & safety legislation and procedures.
*Undertake regular statutory checks including fire alarms, emergency lighting, and water hygiene.
*Maintain accurate records of all checks, inspections, and maintenance activities.
*Identify hazards and take prompt action to reduce risk.
Cleaning & Facilities
*Work collaboratively with cleaning staff to ensure high standards of cleanliness across the site.
*Monitor cleaning supplies and site-related stock.
*Ensure all areas are safe, hygienic, and ready for daily use.
School Operations & Events
*Prepare rooms and spaces for assemblies, activities, and school events.
*Provide support for after-school activities and occasional lettings.
*Assist in ensuring that facilities are left clean, safe, and secure after use.
General Duties
*Work closely with the Headteacher and School Business Manager to support site priorities.
*Provide a visible and approachable presence on site.
*Contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the school environment.
*Undertake training and development relevant to the role.
Essential
*Experience in caretaking, site supervision, or building maintenance.
*Practical skills across a range of maintenance tasks.
*Understanding of health and safety requirements.
*Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
*Good communication and problem-solving skills.
*Flexible, reliable, and proactive approach.
Desirable
*Experience working within a school or educational setting.
*Knowledge of statutory compliance (e.g., COSHH, legionella, fire safety).
*Relevant qualifications in maintenance or facilities management.
