Job Title: Caretaker / Maintenance Operative
Location: Whetstone
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 12:30 (20 hours per week)
Pay Rate: £20 per hour (£20,800 per annum)
Requirement: Own car essential
About the RoleWe are recruiting for a practical and reliable Caretaker / Maintenance Operative to support the day-to-day upkeep of two neighboring residential buildings set within private grounds in Whetstone.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining general maintenance, light cleaning, and caretaking responsibilities. You will play an important part in ensuring the buildings and surrounding areas are kept clean, safe, and well maintained.
Occasional travel to nearby sites may also be required.
Key ResponsibilitiesSite & Grounds Maintenance
*Carry out daily inspections of building exteriors and grounds
*Sweep car park areas and complete litter picking
*Undertake seasonal tasks such as leaf blowing
*Monitor communal areas and report maintenance or cleaning issues
*Manage bin stores, including preparing bins for collection
*Prepare flats for new tenant move-ins
*Complete statutory checks (fire alarms, emergency lighting, fire doors)
*Respond to tenant queries in a professional and timely manner
*Maintain regular communication with the managing agent (via email/Outlook)
General Maintenance
*Complete minor repairs in communal areas and within flats
*Carry out basic plumbing and appliance fixes
*Undertake small-scale decorating work when required
Cleaning Duties
*Support ad hoc cleaning in high-traffic communal areas between scheduled cleans
About You*Previous experience in caretaking, maintenance, or a similar role preferred
*Good all-round practical maintenance skills
*Confident carrying out minor repairs and decorating tasks
*Able to work independently and manage your own workload
*Strong communication and customer service skills
*Flexible and willing to travel between nearby sites when required
*Positive, proactive attitude with a hands-on approach
