Senior Research Technician / Lab Technician - Contract
Role details:
*Start date: ASAP
*Contract: minimum 6 months (highly likely to be extended)
*Hourly rate: opened to conversations
*Location: Coventry; on-site laboratory environment
*Hours: 36.5 hours a week
*Work pattern: 9-5 Mon-Fri - ideally
Key responsibilities:
*Provide technical support, guidance and skills training to academic staff and postgraduate researchers
*Support research projects through specialist laboratory techniques and safe working practices
*Manage the day-to-day operation, organisation and upkeep of designated laboratories
*Maintain, calibrate and oversee the safe use of analytical instrumentation
*Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations including COSHH and related legislation
Skills and experience required:
*Degree (or equivalent experience) in analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis or a related discipline
*Knowledge of mass spectrometry and liquid and gas chromatography techniques - MANDATORY
*Hands-on experience supporting research or commercial chemistry laboratories - MANDATORY
*Strong knowledge of analytical instrumentation (e.g. HRAM uHPLC-MS, GC-MS, Orbitrap, Py-GC-MS)
*Experience with sample preparation, data processing software and technical documentation
*Demonstrable health and safety compliance and ability to train and support others
