The business operates a traditional contractor model, delivering complex projects for a loyal client base and values experience, judgement and hands-on leadership.
Description
As the Financial Controller / Head of Finance, you will assume full responsibility for the finance function and act as the principal financial advisor to the directors. Key responsibilities include:


*Production of monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheet and forecasts
*Work-in-progress, contract accruals and margin analysis
*Weekly contract and valuation performance tracking
*Daily cash management and rolling cashflow forecasting
*Monthly VAT returns, PAYE submissions and CIS compliance
*End-to-end payroll processing and pension administration
*Overhead analysis and cost control
*Oversight of sales, nominal, subcontractor and purchase ledgers
*Maintenance of the fixed asset register
*Year-end audit preparation and liaison with external auditors
*Group reporting and consolidation where required
*Attendance at monthly management meetings, providing commercial insight


Profile
The successful Financial Controller / Head of Finance should meet the following requirements:


*You will be a qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) with proven experience in a construction or contracting environment.
*You will have strong working knowledge of WIP, CIS and cashflow management, and be comfortable operating as the number one finance lead within an owner-managed business.
