Employment Tax Manager - Reading or Southampton
I am working with a prestigious firm that is looking to appoint an Employment Tax Manager into their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high-performing practice offering strong client exposure, varied advisory work, and genuine progression prospects. The role can be based in either Reading or Southampton.
The Role
You will manage a portfolio of clients, providing expert advice across all areas of employment tax while supporting the development of the wider team.
Key responsibilities include:
*Advising on PAYE, NIC, benefits-in-kind, expenses, termination payments, IR35, and employment status
*Managing compliance processes including PSAs, P11Ds, and HMRC disclosures
*Supporting HMRC enquiries, audits, and negotiations
*Advising on reward structures, workforce planning, expatriate tax, and share schemes (where applicable)
*Acting as the main client contact and identifying advisory opportunities
*Supporting proposals, business development, and thought leadership
*Mentoring junior team members and contributing to service line growth
About You
*ATT, CTA, or equivalent qualified
*Strong UK employment tax technical knowledge and HMRC experience
*Background in professional services or HMRC within employment tax
*Confident managing client relationships and delivering high-quality advice
*Experience handling HMRC enquiries and leading on negotiations
*Strong communicator with the ability to explain complex issues clearly
*Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
*Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities
