SEN Teaching Assistant - Primary School | Barking and Dagenham
Are you a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a meaningful difference in children’s lives?
Are you seeking a rewarding opportunity from May 2026 within a supportive and inclusive primary school in Barking and Dagenham?
Academics is delighted to be working in partnership with a friendly, nurturing, and high-performing primary school. The school is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their team from May 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) while working as part of a welcoming and collaborative school community, where staff are valued and pupils are encouraged to reach their full potential.
Role Details
Location: Barking and Dagenham
Start Date: May 2026
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Pay: £95-£105 per day (dependent on experience)
Key Responsibilities
*Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
*Support children with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social/emotional needs
*Assist teachers in delivering inclusive and engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs
*Implement positive behaviour strategies and support pupils’ emotional wellbeing and regulation
*Help create a nurturing, structured, and inclusive learning environment
*Work closely with the SENCO, teachers, and wider support staff to monitor and support pupil progress
The Ideal Candidate Will:
*Have experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting
*Be patient, empathetic, and resilient
*Have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
*Be able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
*Be proactive and committed to helping every child succeed
