Development Underwriter - Commercial Combined
Location: Yorkshire (Leeds ideally, hybrid working)

IPS Group is working with a well-established insurer to recruit an experienced Development Underwriter to support growth across the Yorkshire region, with a focus on Commercial Combined SME risks.
This is a key hire within a regional trading team, offering the opportunity to play a visible role in driving new business and strengthening broker relationships across a growing portfolio.

The role combines underwriting with relationship management. You will build and develop broker partnerships, identify new business opportunities, and take a proactive, trading-led approach to win and grow accounts. You will also support regional teams and help brokers access competitive solutions across both open market and e-trade platforms.

It is a market-facing position, involving regular broker engagement, performance discussions, and supporting wider commercial lines growth. Internally, you will act as a referral point, providing technical support and contributing to retention and rate improvement.

From an underwriting perspective, the focus is on larger and more complex SME risks. You will manage your own pipeline, work towards financial targets, and contribute to regional growth plans.

We’re looking for individuals with strong experience underwriting Commercial Combined risks within the SME market, ideally with a track record of broker development and new business generation. A commercial mindset, confidence in decision-making, and the ability to trade effectively are key.
