Job Description:
Gleeson Recruitment Group are proud to be exclusively partnering with a high-growth, market leading organisation to appoint a Head of Financial Accounting into a critical senior finance role. This business is scaling rapidly, investing heavily in infrastructure and expanding its operational footprint nationwide, creating an opportunity for an experienced accounting leader to help shape the next phase of growth.
This is a hands-on position, reporting into senior finance leadership, with responsibility for the integrity and control of financial reporting across a complex, multi-entity environment. You will lead a well-established accounting team, take ownership of a fast-paced month-end close, and act as the primary interface with external auditors and advisors.
The successful candidate will balance strong technical expertise with a practical, delivery-focused mindset. You’ll play a key role in strengthening balance sheet control, ensuring statutory obligations are met, and improving processes so they can scale effectively alongside the business.
What you’ll be doing
*Leading, developing and motivating a team of qualified and part-qualified accountants
*Owning the month-end close timetable and ensuring accurate, high-quality outputs
*Producing statutory accounts and managing audit engagements end to end
*Maintaining tight control over balance sheet integrity and accounting standards
*Overseeing tax compliance activities with external specialists
*Driving continuous improvement across financial controls, systems and processes
*Contributing to wider business projects, including systems upgrades and growth initiatives
What we’re looking for
*Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
*Background in audit with subsequent experience in industry
*Strong technical accounting and statutory reporting capability
*Proven experience leading and developing finance teams
*Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, change-led environment
*Detail-oriented, resilient and confident challenging existing ways of working
*Strong communicator able to build credibility across finance and operational teams
If you’re looking for a senior accounting role where you can genuinely influence outcomes, improve standards and support a business scaling at pace, we’d love to speak with you.
At Gleeson Recruitment Group, we embrace inclusivity and welcome applicants of all backgrounds, experiences, and abilities. We are proud to be a disability confident employer.
