Public Cloud Assistant Infrastructure Engineer
Salary: £48,987-£54,430
Location: Halifax or Leeds
Workstyle: Hybrid (at least two days a week/on average 40% on site)
Role OverviewWe are recruiting a Public Cloud Assistant Infrastructure Engineer to support the design, build and operation of cloud-based infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure .
You will work within agile engineering teams, contributing to secure, scalable platforms that support services used across Lloyds Banking Group.
This role is suited to early-career cloud, DevOps or infrastructure engineers who want to deepen their experience with Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD in a large-scale enterprise environment.
Key Responsibilities*Support the design, deployment and maintenance ofcloud infrastructure on GCP and Azure

*Assist in operatingKubernetes-based platforms

*Build, maintain and supportCI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployment

*Contribute toInfrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform

*Support implementation ofsecurity controls , access management and policy standards
*Monitor platform health and assist with incident resolution and troubleshooting
*Take part in agile ceremonies, continuous improvement activities and platform enhancements

*Participate in anon-call support rota with appropriate training and support
*
Required Skills and Experience*1-4 years’ experience in a DevOps, SRE, cloud or infrastructure engineering role

*Hands-on experience or strong working knowledge ofKubernetes and container technologies

*Experience usingCI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions or similar)

*Ability to write or maintain scripts usingPython, Bash or Go

*Experience or exposure toInfrastructure as Code , preferably Terraform

*Understanding ofcloud computing concepts and services on GCP and/or Azure

*Basic understanding ofLinux systems , networking and security principles
*Strong collaboration skills and a willingness to learn new tools and technologies
Desirable (Not Essential) Skills*Experience withIstio service mesh , including ingress/egress, mTLS and telemetry

*Familiarity withGitOps approaches (e.g. Anthos Config Management, Backstage workflows)

*Experience withHarness or similar enterprise CI/CD tools

*Exposure toOPA Gatekeeper or policy-as-code tooling

*Awareness ofcontainer security tools such as Aqua Security
*Knowledge of shared platform services (e.g. CoreDNS, cert-manager, Dynatrace, Infoblox, Cloudability)

*Experience withobservability tools such as Prometheus or Dynatrace

*Understanding ofagile and DevOps ways of working
