Job Description:
Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)
Location: Enfield, Greater London
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full Time
Salary: MPS - UPS + TLR2c + Outer London Weighting
Start Date: September 2026
Reed Education is working with a high-performing all-through academy in Enfield to appoint an ambitious and inspiring Head of Modern Foreign Languages.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced MFL teacher and aspiring or established middle leader to lead and further develop a strong MFL provision across Key Stages 2-5, inspiring pupils to become confident linguists and global citizens.
The school
The school is a successful all-through academy with a strong reputation for academic achievement, inclusion and aspiration. A high proportion of Sixth Form students’ progress to university, including Russell Group destinations. Languages are valued highly, with MFL taught from Year 3 onwards and established GCSE and A Level pathways.
The Role
The successful candidate will:
*Lead, manage and inspire the MFL department
*Drive high-quality teaching and learning from KS2-KS5
*Develop and embed an ambitious, inclusive and engaging MFL curriculum
*Use assessment data to raise attainment and close gaps
*Promote languages through enrichment, extra-curricular activities and cultural opportunities
The Person
You will have:
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – Essential
*Experience teaching MFL at secondary level
*A proven track record of raising standards and outcomes
*Strong leadership potential and commitment to inclusive practice
Desirable:
*Experience teaching A Level
*Evidence of leadership development or postgraduate study
