£38,000 – £43,000 (DOE) plus 7.5% variable pay bonus + holiday pay for overtime + Car Allowance: £568 per month
Location: Remote - London (max 2 hours’ drive from London, M4 corridor)
The Opportunity
A leading organisation within the electrical power and energy systems sector is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to support the commissioning, servicing, and maintenance of critical electrical equipment across UK and Ireland customer sites.
This Field Service Engineer role involves working on complex electrical systems, providing on-site technical support, and ensuring high levels of system reliability and customer satisfaction. The position is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong fault-finding skills and experience in field-based service environments.
Key Responsibilities
Commissioning & Installation
*Carry out installation and commissioning of electrical systems at customer sites
*Test and configure equipment in line with technical specifications and site requirements
*Ensure all systems are commissioned safely and efficiently
*Update internal commissioning and service databases accurately
Servicing & Maintenance
*Diagnose and troubleshoot faults on installed electrical systems
*Carry out corrective and preventive maintenance activities
*Perform system inspections and ensure optimal equipment performance
*Escalate recurring technical issues to engineering support teams
*Maintain accurate service records and technical reports
Fault Finding & On-Site Support
*Provide expert-level troubleshooting on electrical and power systems
*Respond to breakdowns and service requests (including on-call rota after probation)
*Ensure rapid resolution of technical issues to minimise downtime
*Deliver high-quality on-site engineering support
Customer Training & Engagement
*Provide basic operational training to customers on system usage
*Deliver technical guidance to end users and distributors
*Build strong working relationships with customers and site teams
*Support knowledge transfer and technical understanding on-site
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
*Safety compliance and adherence to procedures
*First-time fix rate and service efficiency
*Accuracy of technical reporting and documentation
*Response time to service requests
*Customer satisfaction and relationship quality
Requirements
Experience
*Proven experience as a Field Service Engineer or similar electrical engineering role
*Strong background in electrical systems, commissioning, or maintenance
*Experience working in customer-facing, field-based environments
Technical Skills
*Electrical installation, commissioning, and fault diagnosis
*Knowledge of electrical safety standards and procedures
*Experience using technical service databases (desirable)
Personal Skills
*Strong problem-solving and analytical ability
*Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
*Ability to work independently and manage site-based work
*Strong organisational and time management skills
Education
*Electrical Engineering qualification or equivalent hands-on experience required
