Overview
IN2 Consult is partnering with an exciting client in Oxfordshire on the recruitment of a hands-on, process-driven Head of Finance to lead the core finance function, with a strong emphasis on month-end reporting, financial control, and reporting accuracy.
This role is suited to a technically strong accountant who thrives in a structured environment, takes ownership of the month-end close, management reporting, and year-end processes, and is comfortable operating at both a detailed and leadership level. While there is some stakeholder interaction, the primary focus is on delivering high-quality, timely financial reporting, maintaining robust controls, and driving improvements across finance processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Month-End and Year-end Reporting
*Own and manage the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and discipline
*Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, with detailed balance sheet reconciliations
*Lead the year-end close and statutory reporting process
*Maintain and enhance a strong financial control environment
Audit & Compliance
*Act as the primary contact for external auditors, managing the audit process end-to-end
*Ensure compliance with all statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements
*Continuously review and strengthen internal controls and financial governance
Technical Accounting
*Provide technical accounting expertise across the business
*Manage complex accounting areas such as group reporting, consolidations, and accounting policy application
*Ensure alignment with relevant accounting standards and best practice
Payroll & Finance Operations
*Oversee the payroll function, ensuring accuracy and compliance
*Supervise core finance operations including AP/AR, treasury, and cash management
*Ensure high standards of data integrity across all finance processes
Systems & Process Improvement
*Drive process improvements across the finance function, focusing on efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
*Play a key role in ERP implementation, upgrades, or system migrations
*Improve reporting capabilities and optimise use of finance systems
Team Leadership
*Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring clear structure, accountability, and high performance
*Establish and document robust finance processes and procedures
Required Experience & Qualifications Include:
*Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
*Proven experience in a hands-on finance leadership role
*Background in a PLC and/or private equity-backed environment
*Strong technical accounting and financial control expertise
*Highly process-oriented, with a focus on accuracy and continuous improvement
*Experience with ERP systems and system implementations/migrations is highly desirable
*Exposure to the manufacturing sector is advantageous
*Detail-driven, organised, and comfortable operating in a structured, deadline-driven environment
*Strong but pragmatic communicator, able to engage effectively with stakeholders where required
