Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:30pm
The Opportunity
An established and busy hydraulics business is looking for a skilled Workshop Machinist to join their team.
This is a hands-on role working on hydraulic rams and components, combining machining, fault diagnosis, and repair work. You’ll be a key part of the workshop, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and delivered safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities of the Workshop Machinist
*Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on hydraulic rams and components
*Strip, inspect, refurbish, and rebuild hydraulic cylinders
*Test completed units to ensure safe and reliable operation
*Operate manual lathes (including Colchester machines)
*Liaise with customers on job requirements and provide quotes
*Manage stock levels and coordinate outsourced work where required
Person Specification for the Workshop Machinist
*Experience working with hydraulic rams/cylinders (preferred)
*Ability to diagnose faults and carry out full strip and rebuilds
*Experience operating manual lathes
*Good understanding of workshop practices and health & safety
*Organised, able to manage workload and maintain stock levels
*Reliable, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail
