SEMH Teaching Assistant - Secondary School (Kingston)Advertised by Veritas Education
Veritas Education is recruiting an experienced and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students within a Secondary SEMH school in the Kingston area. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.
About the School*Specialist Secondary SEMH provision
*Nurture-led and trauma-informed approach
*Small class sizes with high levels of support
*Strong focus on emotional regulation, engagement and positive behaviour
Key Responsibilities*Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
*Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour management
*Assist students with engagement in learning and classroom activities
*Work closely with teachers, pastoral and SEN teams
*Build positive, consistent and trusting relationships with students
*Support students during transitions and unstructured times
Skills & Experience Required*Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour
*Calm, patient and resilient approach
*Strong communication and relationship-building skills
*Confidence managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour
*Ability to work effectively as part of a team
*Background in education, care, youth work or similar is highly desirable
*Strong commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
