Science Teacher
Aurora Eccles School:
We’re currently looking for a science teacher?to join our team. The successful candidate will support to embed the vision, direction and culture that inspires staff teams to work together to provide the highest standards of education and care.
Part of the Aurora Group, Aurora Eccles School in Quidenham, Norwich provides day placements for students?aged 11 to 16 years primarily with communication and interaction difficulties or specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia.? Some may be on the autistic spectrum or have anxieties and other difficulties that can make learning harder for them.?
With small classes, a maximum of 10 students and a minimum of 3 staff per class you can focus on the needs of each student. There is a clinical team onsite that supports our work, and you will have the support of an experienced and stable SLT.

Key Duties:
As a science teacher, your role will be to provide high quality, challenging and differentiated educational activities and experiences through the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum which you will have the flexibility to adapt, to enable our pupils to achieve their full potential in all areas of learning. You may also be required to teach some maths lessons. Our students’ abilities range from entry-level through to higher GCSE.
*To facilitate this, you’ll plan and deliver lessons referencing the National Curriculum, board specifications, and the school’s policies. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the class and other relevant aspects of the running of the school.?
*You will be supporting students to achieve their best personal outcomes in examinations and non-examination assessments.
*You’ll supervise and provide support and guidance to our teaching assistants and higher-level teaching assistants.
*Our subject specialists also provide support to colleagues that work as class-teachers of all subjects in our nurture classes: subject knowledge and pedagogy.
*Naturally, you will take responsibility for implementing school policies and practices, including those relating to safeguarding and equality of opportunity. Additionally, you will also be expected to monitor the health, well-being and care of our pupils, informing care/medical/behavioural support teams and any other relevant professionals of any concerns.
For the right candidate, this role could attract a TLR for leading the Science and Technology Department. However, these duties are not a requirement of the role if you are seeking to focus your work in the classroom.

Skills and Qualifications
*Qualified Teacher status
*Experience of teaching science to GCSE level
*Experience of teaching pupils with SEN and working from EHCP documents
*Thorough working knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt this for pupils with SEND
*Ability to create and maintain strong nurturing relationships with young people
*Experience of managing a range of approaches to learning, to include the students with anxiety and SEND
*Knowledge of strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners important
*A flexible approach, a high level of creativity and the ability to adapt teaching to meet individual needs
Due to the rural location of the school, candidates are strongly advised to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle.
