Finance Director
South Manchester / Cheshire
c.£110,000 - £120,000 + Bonus + Benefits
This is not a typical Finance Director role.
You will work directly with a highly driven and successful entrepreneur, acting as a true right-hand partner to support and scale a diverse, fast-growing group of businesses.
We’re looking for a hands-on finance leader-someone who can operate strategically at board level, while also taking full ownership of the finance function within a complex, evolving environment.
The OpportunityYou will take full responsibility for the finance function of a c.£160m turnover, multi-entity, family-owned business, while also supporting wider growth initiatives, investment decisions, and international activity.
This is a broad, influential role where you will shape strategy, drive performance, and build a best-in-class finance function to support continued expansion.
Key Responsibilities*Act as a trusted advisor and right-hand to the owner, supporting strategic and operational decision-making
*Lead all aspects of financial management including reporting, management accounts, cashflow, budgeting, and forecasting
*Drive financial planning and long-term growth strategy through insightful analysis of performance, risks, and opportunities
*Maintain constant visibility of financial performance, proactively identifying and addressing risks and issues
*Support investment activity, including financial modelling, due diligence, and evaluation of new opportunities
*Ensure robust financial controls, systems, and processes are in place to support ongoing growth
*Lead, develop, and mentor the finance team
*Oversee audit processes, internal controls, and statutory compliance
*Build strong relationships with external stakeholders including banks, auditors, customers, and international suppliers
*Contribute at Exec level-challenging assumptions, influencing decisions, and shaping business direction
*Deliver ad hoc analysis and insight to support key commercial decisions
About You*Proven experience operating at Finance Director level (or a high-calibre Number 2 ready to step up)
*A background in fast-growing, entrepreneurial, or founder-led businesses is essential
*Experience working closely with an owner/founder or family business environment
*Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence and challenge at senior level
*Exposure to international operations and multi-entity structures
*Experience within family trusts/funds would be advantageous
*A proactive, hands-on leader who can balance strategy with delivery
