Your Company:
A well-established manufacturing business is seeking a Purchase Ledger Manager to join its team in Poole. With a strong market presence and ambitious growth plans, this organisation prides itself on operational excellence and financial discipline. As part of their continued expansion, they are looking to strengthen their finance function with a proactive and experienced manager who can oversee purchase ledger operations while supporting wider transactional finance activities, including payments, sales ledger, and credit control, to safeguard the company’s financial position.

Your Role and Responsibilities:
While in this position your duties may include, but are not limited to:
*Lead and manage the day-to-day Accounts Payable / Purchase Ledger function.
*Line manage, develop, and support the Purchase Ledger team, including performance management and appraisals.
*Maintain a hands-on approach to invoice, credit note, and supplier transaction processing.
*Oversee and validate BACS payment runs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
*Manage supplier reconciliations, resolve discrepancies, and maintain strong supplier relationships.
*Oversee expenses, petty cash, and company credit card processes.
*Ensure compliance with VAT regulations and financial controls.
*Collaborate with Sales Ledger and Credit Control, supporting cash collection and customer account management where required.
*Manage supplier accounts, credit notes, and ensure robust onboarding and controls.
*Identify and mitigate risks within transactional finance processes.
*Support foreign currency payments and reconcile GRNI accounts.
*Drive process improvements and maintain accurate financial records.
*Contribute to wider finance projects and system enhancements.
What You Will Need to Apply:
*Proven experience managing a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable function.
*Broader experience across transactional finance, including exposure to payments, Sales Ledger, and Credit Control.
*Experience recruiting, training, and developing team members within a finance environment.
*Strong experience handling high volumes of financial transactions within a mid-to-large organisation.
*Good understanding of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and cash management processes.
*Knowledge of VAT regulations relating to both Purchase and Sales Ledger processing.
*Strong organisational and workload management skills.
*Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
*Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and finance systems.
*Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
*Understanding of how transactional finance impacts wider business performance and cash flow.
*Studying towards or holding a recognised finance or accountancy qualification (desirable).
*Experience using ERP systems such as Open Accounts or similar.
