Fully Remote
£55,000 - £65,000
Robert Half Finance & Accounting are recruiting for a Payroll Manager to join a growing international business on a fully remote basis.
This is a key role responsible for the end-to-end delivery of payroll across the UK and the US, with particular emphasis on US payroll compliance and accuracy. You’ll work closely with Finance, HR, and third-party providers to ensure payroll is processed accurately, on time, and in line with local legislation.
This opportunity would suit an experienced payroll professional who enjoys ownership, autonomy, and operating in a multi-country environment.
Key responsibilities:
*Managing end-to-end payroll processing for UK and US employees, including gross-to-net calculations
*Ensuring full compliance with HMRC requirements in the UK and IRS / State Agency regulations in the US
*Overseeing payroll onboarding for new starters, including tax setup, benefits, pensions and regional equivalents
*Managing relationships with third-party payroll providers and monitoring SLAs
*Ownership of payroll calendars, deadlines, and year-end processes (P60s, W-2s, etc.)
*Monthly payroll reconciliations, variance analysis, and resolution of discrepancies
*Preparing payroll-related journals and supporting month-end close
*Producing payroll reporting, KPIs, and cost analysis for management
*Ensuring GDPR compliance and secure handling of sensitive payroll data
The ideal candidate will have:
*Proven hands-on experience managing US payroll (essential)
*Strong understanding of US federal and state payroll legislation (FICA, FUTA, W-4, state variations)
*Solid UK payroll knowledge including PAYE, NIC, pensions and statutory payments
*Experience working with multi-country payroll environments
*Strong Excel skills and the ability to reconcile and analyse complex payroll data
*High attention to detail and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset
*Excellent communication skills and confidence working with stakeholders across regions
