Housing Defects & Compliance Officer - Southend - £37,000 per annum
9am - 5:30pm Monday to Friday, out on site, fleet car provided
Portfolio covers South East - Essex and London
Overview
An established organisation in the private rented sector is looking for a Housing Defects & Compliance Officer to help ensure its property portfolio remains safe, compliant, and well maintained. This is a hands-on role focused on inspections, defect identification, and coordinating maintenance works.
Key Responsibilities
*Inspect vacant and occupied properties, identifying defects and required works
*Produce clear reports and schedules for maintenance teams
*Investigate issues and coordinate with contractors to ensure timely resolution
*Monitor compliance with licensing and health & safety regulations
*Carry out routine inspections and flag risks early
*Support an out-of-hours emergency rota
Requirements
*Minimum 2 years’ experience in property inspections or defect identification
*Knowledge of maintenance and health & safety standards
*Strong organisational and communication skills
*Proficient in Microsoft Office
*Full UK driving licence
Desirable: PRS experience, knowledge of housing legislation, property systems (e.g. MRI)
