About the School Few schools anywhere in the world can claim to be genuinely rewriting the rulebook — Sherborne Jeddah can. Opened in September 2025, this ambitious British international school brings together the weight of a 475-year-old educational legacy and the energy of a school determined to do things differently. Built in proud partnership with Sherborne School in Dorset — one of the UK’s most celebrated and historically significant independent institutions, with roots stretching back to 1550 — Sherborne Jeddah occupies a stunning, purpose-built campus equipped with cutting-edge facilities designed to inspire every learner who walks through the door.
The Primary programme at Sherborne Jeddah follows the English National Curriculum, delivered through an innovative and forward-thinking framework that places curiosity, creativity, and adaptability at its heart. Teachers are actively encouraged to explore new strategies, projects, and technologies, shifting the focus from what is to what could be. The goal is simple: to capture pupils’ imagination so completely that they lose track of time — entirely in keeping with the Sherborne tradition of nurturing the whole child and developing confident, compassionate, lifelong learners.
Could This Be You? These roles will resonate with primary practitioners who are genuinely excited by innovation and believe that creativity is innate in every child. You will thrive at Sherborne Jeddah if you are someone who embraces the unknown, encourages pupils to take risks in their learning, and finds joy in designing experiences that spark curiosity and wonder. You are warm, reflective, and deeply committed — and the idea of joining a school community that is still writing its story, and playing an active role in shaping its culture from the ground up, genuinely excites you.
Jeddah — A City Snapshot Perched on the edge of the Red Sea, Jeddah is a city that surprises and delights in equal measure. Saudi Arabia’s most cosmopolitan and forward-thinking urban centre, it blends a richly layered history — including a UNESCO World Heritage old town — with a rapidly evolving contemporary identity. New restaurants, cultural venues, and leisure destinations are emerging all the time, and the city’s waterfront is one of the most striking in the region. For international teachers, life here offers real quality — comfortable housing, a sociable expat community, easy access to the sea, and the extraordinary wider landscape of Saudi Arabia on the doorstep.
Required Qualifications
* A degree in Primary Education, Education, or a closely related subject
* A recognised UK teaching qualification (QTS or PGCE) — essential
* A minimum of two years of teaching experience within KS1 and/or KS2
* A strong working knowledge of the English National Curriculum at primary level
* Previous experience in an international school is desirable but not essential
Essential Skills
* Confident and engaging delivery of the English National Curriculum across KS1 and/or KS2
* A thorough understanding of child development and the ability to translate careful assessment into purposeful, differentiated planning
* A genuine passion for innovative, inquiry-led teaching and learning
* Strong assessment literacy, with the ability to track each child’s progress and communicate outcomes meaningfully to families
* An instinctive warmth and the ability to build the kind of trusting relationships that help primary-aged children feel safe, valued, and ready to learn
* Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate young learners
* Exceptional communication skills with pupils, parents, and colleagues
* A habit of honest reflection and a genuine appetite for professional learning and development
* The cultural intelligence and adaptability to work with confidence in a diverse and international school community
* A generous, collegiate spirit and a readiness to contribute to school life beyond the classroom, including co-curricular activities
Safeguarding Skills and Qualities Required for International Teachers The welfare and safety of every student is the highest priority at Sherborne Jeddah. All candidates must demonstrate a clear understanding of and commitment to safeguarding best practice in an international context. We are looking for professionals who:
* Understand and uphold robust child protection policies and procedures
* Communicate concerns clearly and act appropriately when a student’s welfare may be at risk
* Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students at all times
* Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity in safeguarding contexts across different international settings
* Are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for every child
All successful applicants will be subject to thorough background checks, including references, verification of qualifications, and overseas criminal record checks in line with international safeguarding standards.
