Customer Service Operator (Customs)
Felixstowe
Office based - Monday - Friday
£25,000 – £35,000 DOE

We’re working with a well-established and fast-moving freight forwarding business in Felixstowe, looking to expand their customs team with a driven Customer Service Operator (Customs).
Why This Role WorksYou’ll sit right at the centre of the customs operation—liaising with shippers, hauliers, shipping lines and internal teams to keep cargo flowing compliantly and on time. This is a hands-on, operational role where your customs knowledge has real impact on day-to-day port activity.
What You’ll Be Doing*Preparing and processing customs entries in CDS accurately and efficiently
*Managing job bookings, costings and invoicing across import/export movements
*Acting as a key point of contact for customers, agents, hauliers and port partners
*Ensuring all declarations meet HMRC and compliance requirements
*Proactively resolving clearance issues, delays and documentation queries
*Maintaining fully compliant job files with precise attention to detail
*Contributing to weekly and monthly operational reporting
*Working closely with the wider operations team to deliver a seamless customer experience
What We’re Looking For*Solid, hands-on experience with customs clearance procedures
*Strong understanding of port, freight forwarding and customs operations
*A proactive, solutions-driven approach with excellent attention to detail
*Confident communicator with strong customer service instincts
*Ability to work under pressure, prioritise workloads and hit deadlines
*Comfortable using IT systems and customs platforms
*A team player who thrives in a busy, operational environment
