Accounts Supervisor
Location: Burton - Office Based
Salary: £32,000 - £33,000
Our client, based in Burton-upon-Trent, is seeking a hands-on Accounts Supervisor to join their small, dedicated finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, has strong all-round transactional finance experience (must include sales ledger and credit control), and is happy to get involved wherever needed to support the Financial Controller.
Key Responsibilities:*Manage the sales ledger process across multiple currencies, including preparing and issuing invoices, posting payments, reconciling accounts, and producing month-end reports.
*Carry out credit checks for new customers and ensure accurate setup of new accounts on internal systems.
*Oversee credit control activities by following up on overdue balances, maintaining regular customer contact, and resolving payment or invoice discrepancies efficiently.
*Act as the first point of contact for queries within the finance team (team of 2) and other departments, escalating issues where appropriate.
*Monitor workload and deadlines across the department, ensuring tasks are completed on time and highlighting any risks to the Financial Controller.
*Support the training and development needs of team members, helping to build knowledge and confidence within the department.
*Assist the Financial Controller with month-end close and other reporting requirements.
*Contribute to ongoing improvements in finance processes and systems to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
*Provide cover for colleagues and undertake additional tasks as required to support the wider finance function.
What We’re Looking For:*Previous experience in transactional finance, including sales ledger, credit control, and reconciliations. Payroll experience would be advantageous but isn’t essential
*Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
*A proactive and hands-on approach, suited to working in a small, collaborative team.
*High attention to detail and accuracy, with a focus on meeting deadlines.
