Job Description:
A law enforcement organisation is seeking a dedicated and detail-focused Researcher to join our Analysis & Research team in Sheffield. The role is working as part of the Operation Hydrant Programme which plays a critical national role working closely with police forces and partner agencies across the country, our programme helps build a clear and accurate picture of scale and threat, informing both operational activity and strategic decision-making.
This role is vital in supporting analysts by conducting high-quality research, reviewing sensitive material, and contributing to national reporting.

This is an initial 3-month contract with potential to be extended and it is based in Sheffield (hybrid working available, 3 days per week in the office and 2 days working from home). The hourly rate for the role is £26.65 per hour via an Umbrella company or PAYE rates also available.
What You’ll Do
As a Researcher, you will:
*Research and collate information to support analytical products and performance reporting
*Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Hydrant Programme and partner agencies’ priorities
*Work with national policing systems and software, building your knowledge of a wide range of tools
*Produce accurate, clear and timely reports that feed into analytical outputs
*Collect, collate, and evaluate data from a mixture of open and restricted sources
*Liaise with partner organisations to gather information and build understanding
*Read, categorise and summarise sensitive material relating to child sexual abuse and exploitation
*Support decision-making and operational activity through high-quality research
*Carry out any other duties appropriate to the role and grade

*Experience researching and collating data
*Strong written and verbal communication skills
*Ability to produce accurate reports within tight timescales
*Good problem-solving skills and ability to use your own initiative
*Resilience and the ability to work under pressure
*Strong interpersonal skills, able to communicate and debate information clearly
*Basic understanding of intelligence/performance management processes
*Good computer skills, including Microsoft Office
*Strong literacy and numeracy skills
Desirable Skills
*Understanding of Evidence-Based Policing principles
*Familiarity with policing systems such as Niche, Connect, Athena, PND or PNC
*Experience with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, or other analytical/data-mining tools
*Awareness of crime recording processes within policing
