Job Title: Trainee Logistics Coordinator
Location: East London
Salary: £25,000
Start Date: ASAP
Hours: Monday - Friday, 08:45 - 17:15
Working Pattern: Office-based
About the Role
Our client, a well-established and growing freight forwarding organisation, is seeking a Trainee Logistics Coordinator to join their specialist recyclables division.
This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to begin a career within a dynamic and fast-paced freight forwarding environment. The business forms part of a larger, expanding logistics group, providing global transport solutions across air, sea, and road freight.
What you’ll do:
You will join a supportive operational team and report directly to a supervisor, receiving ongoing training and development. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career within logistics, with clear opportunities for progression as the team and business continue to grow.
*Assist with preparation of shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, shipping instructions, invoices, and packing lists
*Ensure documentation is accurate and compliant with relevant regulations
*Learn to complete VGM submissions and customs documentation
*Support booking of shipments with shipping lines, hauliers, and consolidators
*Monitor schedules, cut-offs, and ETAs to ensure timely cargo movement
*Coordinate collections, deliveries, and loading with suppliers and customers
*Communicate with customers and service partners, providing updates and resolving queries
*Support internal teams to maintain high service standards
*Assist in identifying delays or operational issues and escalate where necessary
*Contribute to process improvements alongside the Supervisor and wider team
What you need:
The successful candidate will be curious, proactive, and keen to understand processes, rather than simply follow them, as the team continues to evolve and improve operational efficiency.
*Degree educated (2:1 or above) in any discipline
*No prior freight forwarding experience required, but a genuine interest in logistics is essential
*Strong communication skills
*Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
*Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage priorities
*Eager to learn, proactive, and willing to take ownership as you develop
*A positive team player with a strong work ethic
Why you’ll love this role:
*Salary of £25,000
*3% pension contribution
*20 days holiday, increasing to 25 days with service
*Full training and ongoing development
*Excellent opportunity for career progression within a growing business
