Temporary Operational Buyer
Start ASAP - Ongoing Assignment
Based in North Somerset
Full Time Hours
Pay Rate is £16.50- £18.00ph
About the role
This position is responsible for managing a designated supplier base and ensuring strong overall supplier performance, including delivery reliability, cost control, and adherence to quality requirements. You will report into a Senior Buyer and work collaboratively with both internal teams and external suppliers to support smooth procurement operations.
Key responsibilities
*Creating and managing purchase orders across multiple systems and procurement channels
*Monitoring MRP outputs and taking appropriate action to accelerate, delay, or cancel outstanding order lines
*Preparing and issuing RFQs, evaluating supplier quotations, reviewing technical drawings and release data, and establishing replenishment parameters for new components or services
*Managing and resolving supply related issues, including delivery delays, quality concerns, invoice discrepancies, overdue orders, and material shortages
*Driving value through cost reduction initiatives such as supplier benchmarking, value engineering, and optimisation of inventory replenishment approaches
Experience Required:
*Strong negotiation and influencing capabilities
*Excellent communication and relationship building skills
*A demonstrated ability to achieve cost savings and/or improve supplier delivery performance
*Confidence working in a fast paced environment
*A proactive, self driven approach with the ability to work independently when required
*CIPS Level 4 (or equivalent qualification, or relevant hands on experience)
* Experience in procurement, purchasing, or a similar role
