Category Buyer – Up to £42,000 Per Annum – Burton Upon Trent
Monday – Friday, 8am – 5:30pm – Permanent
Macildowie Procurement has exclusively partnered with a reputable and high growth manufacturing business based in Burton Upon Trent to recruit a Category Buyer.
The key objectives are to operate in a transactional and reactive environment, operating in a standalone procurement position, managing the day-to-day procurement duties as well as leading on sourcing.
Main Responsibilities
*Ensure stock availability aligns with the production schedule.
*Build and maintain effective working relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
*Assist in future demand planning based on seasonal activities.
*Provide input on projected inventory and availability levels, raising alerts for potential issues.
*Prepare and manage RFPs, incorporating detailed specifications, contract terms and performance requirements.
*Collaborate with legal teams to create robust contracts, define SLAs and establish KPIs to drive supplier accountability.
*Ensure accurate visibility on planned product arrivals for assigned SKUs.
*Manage and conduct tendering processes.
*Raise routine purchase orders for production stock and ad hoc requirements, focusing on best quality, price, and delivery.
*Review stock shortage reports and complete necessary actions to avoid production shortages, including communication with vendors, production and the warehouse.
*Manage freight and monitor/expedite order deliveries, reporting any supplier delivery issues.
*Maintain and optimise the purchasing relationship with suppliers, ensuring materials meet specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
The Candidate

*Previous experience operating in a Buyer, Purchasing or Supply Chain position.
*Able to travel to Burton Upon Trent.
*Proficient user of Microsoft Office including Excel.
*Comfortably able to build and prepare stock forecasts, whilst providing an overview on seasonal stock trends.
*Excellent communication skills.
*Experience with Microsoft Navision – Desirable.
