We are looking for an experienced Senior Ledger Clerk to oversee payment operations within a fast-paced construction environment. The role includes responsibility for both purchase and sales ledgers, leading a small team and ensuring accurate, timely processing to support cashflow and reporting.

Key Responsibilities*Supervise and support the ledger/payment team (2 staff)
*Process supplier, subcontractor and employee payments accurately and on time
*Validate invoices, certificates, valuations and payment schedules
*Ensure compliance with CIS, internal controls and payment terms
*Maintain monthly supplier and subcontractor reconciliations
*Oversee sales ledger accuracy, customer invoicing and debt monitoring
*Support cashflow forecasting, month-end, year-end and audit processes
*Produce aged creditor/debtor and payment reports
*Liaise with commercial, project and procurement teams to resolve queries
*Support system improvements and cover team duties during holidays
Skills & Experience*Proven experience in payments or accounts payable within construction
*Strong knowledge of CIS, retentions and construction valuations
*High level of accuracy with strong numerical and analytical skills
*Confident using accounting systems and Excel
*Strong communication, organisation and team-working skills
*AAT qualified (or equivalent experience)
