A leading children’s care provider is seeking a Mental Health Specialist Trainer / Learning & Development Partner. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced mental health professional with a passion for developing others and improving outcomes for children and young people.
The OpportunityIn this impactful role, you will take the lead in delivering and developing high-quality training programmes across children’s residential and educational services. You will play a vital role in equipping staff with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to support children and young people with complex mental health, trauma-related, emotional, and behavioural needs. You’ll be instrumental in shaping a trauma-informed, psychologically informed culture-ensuring teams can respond safely, effectively, and therapeutically in challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities*Design and deliver engaging, evidence-based training across a range of topics including mental health, trauma, safeguarding, and behavioural support
*Provide specialist guidance to staff and managers on complex mental health presentations including anxiety, depression, self-injurious behaviour, and trauma
*Develop and deliver bespoke training tailored to individual homes, schools, and services
*Support the ongoing development of trauma-informed and relationship-based practice across services
*Work collaboratively with operational leaders to identify and respond to emerging training needs
*Evaluate training effectiveness and continuously improve learning programmes
About YouWe are looking for a confident, engaging professional who can translate specialist knowledge into practical, accessible training.
Essential:
*Professional qualification in a mental health-related field (e.g., Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy)
*Minimum 3 years’ experience working with children and young people in mental health, residential care, or related services
*Strong expertise in trauma-informed practice and complex mental health presentations
*Experience delivering or designing training programmes
*Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
*Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly
Desirable:
*Training or teaching qualification
*Previous experience in a Learning & Development role
