Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a committed and empathetic SEN Teacher to join a specialist educational setting in Oldham. This is an excellent long-term opportunity to work full-time with pupils across both primary and secondary age ranges within a supportive and inclusive school environment.

This specialist provision supports children and young people aged 4–19 with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). The school offers a highly tailored alternative to mainstream education, focusing on emotional wellbeing, inclusion, and preparing learners for independent living and adulthood.
The Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of pupils with complex learning profiles. Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and families, you will foster a calm and structured classroom environment where every pupil can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
*Plan and deliver personalised lessons in line with EHCP targets
*Adapt teaching strategies to suit individual sensory, communication, and developmental needs
*Lead and support classroom staff, including teaching assistants
*Use specialist approaches such as PECS, AAC systems, visual timetables, and sensory strategies
*Apply Team Teach principles to manage behaviour and ensure safe de-escalation
*Track and assess pupil progress effectively
*Support pupils during periods of emotional dysregulation
*Encourage independence, social interaction, and emotional development
*Work closely with families and multidisciplinary teams
Essential Requirements
*Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
*Experience working with, or a genuine interest in supporting, pupils with ASC and SLCN
*Strong behaviour management skills and understanding of positive handling approaches
*A patient, resilient, and proactive mindset
*Ability to work effectively as part of a wider multidisciplinary team
Desirable Skills
*Previous experience in a specialist or SEN setting
*Team Teach training (or willingness to complete training)
*Understanding of EHCPs and personalised learning approaches
*Experience using communication tools and sensory-based strategies
