Our Client, a reputable organisation, is seeking a dedicated Bookkeeper to join their team. This role offers the chance to play a vital part in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting day-to-day financial operations in a friendly, collaborative environment.
Role Overview
This key position has been created as part of a strategic growth initiative. The Bookkeeper will be instrumental in managing everyday financial transactions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and preparing essential financial reports. Working in a friendly office setting in Ongar, Essex, this role promises variety, challenge, and the opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive organisation known for its professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
*Recording and maintaining all financial transactions including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments
*Reconciling bank statements and verifying the accuracy of financial data
*Managing accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely processing
*Processing invoices and providing support with credit control activities
*Maintaining and updating the general ledger and financial records
*Assisting in the preparation of financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
*Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
*Ensuring compliance with tax obligations and assisting with filings
*Working closely with auditors during financial reviews and audits
*Organising and securing comprehensive financial documentation
Essential Skills & Experience
*Proven experience in bookkeeping or a similar accounting role
*Strong understanding of accounting principles and procedures
*Competency in accounting software such as Xero and Microsoft Excel
*High attention to detail and precision in work
*Excellent organisational and time-management skills
*Ability to handle confidential information with integrity
*Effective communication skills
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
*Background in accounting, finance, or related fields
*Relevant certifications, such as Certified Bookkeeper, would be advantageous
*Additional experience with Excel and sound knowledge of accounting systems
*Other Requirements
*This is an office-based role, ideally working two days per week, from 09:00 to 17:00 with a one-hour unpaid lunch
