Job title: Assistant Town Planner
Location: Surrey
We’re currently working with a highly regarded independent planning and development consultancy that is looking to appoint an Assistant Town Planner to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious graduate or early-career planner to develop their experience across a broad range of planning projects within a supportive and collaborative environment.
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced planning professionals on residential, commercial, mixed-use and strategic development schemes, supporting clients through the planning process from initial appraisals through to application submissions and appeals.
Key responsibilities will include:
*Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications
*Undertaking planning policy research and site appraisals
*Supporting the preparation of planning statements and reports
*Liaising with local authorities, consultants and clients
*Monitoring planning applications and responding to planning queries
*Assisting senior planners on a variety of development projects
The ideal candidate will have:
*A degree (and ideally a postgraduate qualification) in Town Planning or a related discipline
*Strong written and verbal communication skills
*Excellent organisational and research abilities
*A proactive and enthusiastic approach to work
*An interest in progressing towards MRTPI status
*Previous planning experience within consultancy or local authority is desirable but not essential
