Job Description:
Public Space Protection Enforcement Officer
*Job Type: Temporary, Full-time
*Contract Length: Initial 6 months (with potential extension)
*Location: Bolton, Lancashire, BL3 5DT
*Pay: £16.43 per hour PAYE
*Working Hours: 9am till 5pm (Office based)
Join Bolton Council as a Public Space Protection Enforcement Officer, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining community standards and safety. This position focuses on reducing anti-social behaviour and improving the environment by enforcing Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) and other regulations.
Day-to-day of the role:
*Detect, deter, and act on anti-social behaviour, breaches of PSPOs, and environmental issues.
*Enforce regulations through issuing fixed penalty notices, preparing and serving notices, collating evidence, and preparing cases for legal action.
*Investigate issues of concern in detail to establish facts, support enforcement preparation, and bring prosecution cases to court.
*Challenge inappropriate behaviour and encourage improvement through engagement, restorative practice, and developing relationships quickly.
*Maintain accurate records of activities, incidents, and issues, and follow-up actions both contemporaneously in a PACE notebook and within other systems as required.
*Attend court acting as a witness as appropriate.
*Provide information to deter anti-social behaviour and to encourage community and individual responsibilities.
*Liaise with other services, agencies, and stakeholders as required, communicating and sharing information with your team and providing support to less experienced staff on operational matters.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
*An understanding of anti-social behaviour legislation and its application.
*Experience working with the public and effectively communicating service matters.
*Ability to deal with conflict situations appropriately and be authoritative when necessary.
*A full, clean driving license is essential.
*Ability to work outdoors in all weathers, and availability for early evenings and occasional weekends.
