We are working with a well-regarded Secondary School in Witham that is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pastoral Leader to join their pastoral team. The school is committed to creating a disciplined yet caring environment where every student feels safe, supported, and able to succeed both academically and personally.
Job Overview:
* This school caters for students aged 11-16.
* Full-time, term-time only Pastoral Leader role.
* Support the welfare, wellbeing, and personal development of students within an assigned year group.
* Promote positive behaviour, strong attendance, and high expectations across the school.
* Work closely with the Head of Year, safeguarding team, and Senior Leadership Team to provide consistent pastoral support.
* Support students with SEND, SEMH needs, EHCPs, or safeguarding concerns through targeted interventions.
* Monitor behaviour, attendance, and pastoral trends using the school’s MIS system.
* Build strong relationships with parents/carers and external agencies to secure positive outcomes for students.
* Support behaviour management strategies, suspension processes, and reintegration plans.
* Act as a key point of contact for students requiring additional pastoral support.
* Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive school culture.
This Pastoral Leader role in Witham offers the opportunity to work within a caring and forward-thinking school environment, where staff are committed to ensuring every student receives the support they need to thrive. You will play a key role in promoting student wellbeing, safeguarding, attendance, and behaviour across the school community.
What we’re looking for:
* GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or equivalent).
* Previous experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral setting.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and professionally.
* Experience using data to monitor student progress, attendance, or behaviour.
* A proactive, resilient, and empathetic approach.
* Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and external agencies.
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
* Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and supporting young people to succeed.
