Role Overview
An established private dental practice is seeking an experienced Dental Receptionist to join its front-of-house team. The practice operates within a modern, digitally led clinical environment and places strong emphasis on professionalism, discretion, and high standards of patient care. This role is well suited to someone with previous dental reception experience who is confident managing private patients and supporting individuals who may feel anxious throughout their treatment journey.
Key Responsibilities
*Act as the first point of contact for patients, providing a professional, welcoming, and empathetic service
*Manage and maintain a busy appointment diary, ensuring efficiency and accuracy
*Schedule appointments and support effective diary planning
*Respond to patient enquiries via telephone, email, and face-to-face interaction
*Maintain accurate patient records in line with confidentiality and data protection requirements
*Handle private dental payments, treatment fees, and payment plans confidently and discreetly
*Process transactions, issue receipts, and support end-of-day cashing-up procedures
*Issue appointment reminders and follow up where required
*Order, monitor, and maintain reception and office stock
*Ensure the reception and waiting areas are consistently tidy and professional
*Provide administrative support and cover as required
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:
*Previous experience in a dental reception role
*Strong understanding of dental practice workflows and front-desk operations
*Confidence handling payments in a private dental environment
*Excellent communication, customer service, and organisational skills
*Strong IT capability and numerical accuracy
*Professional presentation and high attention to detail
Desirable:
*Experience within a private dental practice
*Familiarity with Dentally practice management software
*Clinical exposure or knowledge of implant or restorative dentistry
Personal Attributes
*Calm, empathetic, and patient-focused approach
*Confident and professional manner when dealing with high-value treatments
*Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities
*Reliable team player with a proactive attitude
