External Business Development Manager


About the Company
Our client is a multi-award-winning specialist property lender based in London. Established by a team of highly experienced industry professionals, the business has grown to become a recognised leader in short-term property lending. By combining entrepreneurial thinking with customer-focused technology, the lender has deployed over £1.5Bn in loans to date.
The business offers loans up to 75% LTV on residential and semi-commercial property on terms of up to 2 years.


About the Role
You will be joining a team that has received industry awards for service excellence. Deals come in thick and fast, so you will be busy making things happen from the minute you start!
Rather than being tied to a desk all day, as an External BDM you will have the freedom to get out and meet with the broker community. You will be given a sales region and a database of broker partners to work with.
You will report into the Managing Director (Sales) and form a tight-knit team, focused on the company’s Bridging, Refurbishment and Developer Exit product offering.


Key Responsibilities
Key Activity
*Work through deal enquiries directly with introducers, structuring complex cases within credit policy.
*Plan and maintain a strategic diary of appointments to develop credible, trust-based relationships with your introducer base.
*Actively seek and grow new sources of business from inbound enquiry, broker registrations, existing contacts, industry journals and elsewhere.
*Maximise bridging sales from your introducer base by building relationships, identifying competitive advantages and opportunities for product innovation.
*Achieve agreed quarterly and annual targets for each lending division.
*Attend and present at exhibitions, workshops, seminars and other events as required.
Account Management
*Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the company’s products and services.
*Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the competitive landscape and the company’s key differentiators.
Reporting
*Record all contacts and meeting details on the company CRM system.
*Report on progress as required.
General
*Support the achievement of the company’s budget and business development plans as required.


Skills and Competencies
Minimum Experience
*A Bridging & Property BDM background is preferred; however, other BDM backgrounds within financial services will be considered (e.g. Buy to Let, Development Finance, Commercial).
*Minimum 3 years’ experience in a relevant role.
*Ability to communicate at different levels, both verbally and in writing, including confident presenting to small and large audiences.
Technical Knowledge
*Professional communication skills across telephone, email and face-to-face settings.
*Experience liaising with introducers and/or external customers.
*Highly motivated, with a commitment to delivering outstanding service.
Interpersonal
*Excellent presentation (verbal and written) and relationship-building skills.
*Ability to collaborate, build trust and influence at senior level.
*Demonstrable professional integrity and a strong work ethic.
*Willingness to challenge actions and behaviours that are not in the best interests of the business or its customers.
