Contract: Full time, permanent
Salary: £32,000 - £40,000
Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire
CRA Consulting are pleased to be working in partnership with a well-regarded boutique family law practice based in Chesterfield. Renowned for its high standards of client care and specialist legal expertise, the firm has built an excellent reputation within the local market and offers a supportive, professional working environment.
Due to continued growth, the firm is now looking to appoint a Family Solicitor with 1-2 years’ PQE to join its collaborative and experienced team.
The Opportunity
This role presents an excellent opportunity for a junior Family Solicitor seeking to further develop their career within a respected specialist practice. You will work on a broad range of privately funded family law matters, managing your own caseload while also assisting senior solicitors on more complex cases.
The successful candidate will benefit from hands-on experience, ongoing support, and genuine opportunities for progression within a close-knit and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities*Managing a varied caseload of family law matters from instruction through to conclusion
*Advising clients on divorce and separation matters, including preparing applications and guiding clients through the legal process with clear and practical advice
*Assisting with and advising on financial remedy matters, including disclosure, negotiations, settlement discussions, and court preparation
*Handling private children matters, including disputes relating to child arrangements and parental responsibility issues
*Supporting senior solicitors on complex and high-value family law cases
*Drafting legal documents, court applications, correspondence, and witness statements
*Liaising with counsel, courts, and third parties where required
*Attending client meetings and court hearings where appropriate
*Building strong client relationships through empathetic, professional, and client-focused communication
*Keeping clients informed throughout the progression of their matters and managing expectations effectively
*Ensuring compliance with SRA regulations and internal procedures, including file management and time recording
*Contributing positively to the wider team and maintaining high standards of client care across the department
Candidate Requirements*Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 1-2 years’ PQE in family law
*Experience managing your own family law caseload
*Strong interpersonal and communication skills
*Organised and able to manage competing priorities effectively
*Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
*Compassionate and client-focused approach, with an understanding of the sensitive nature of family law matters
