Housing Enforcement Lead

Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Housing Enforcement Lead to join their Housing & Vulnerability service. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled housing professional to take a leading role in shaping and delivering high-quality housing enforcement and regulatory services that make a real difference to local communities.
The successful candidate will support the operational management of the team while acting as the functional lead across key specialist areas including private sector housing, renters’ rights, housing strategy, homelessness, temporary accommodation, supported accommodation and affordable housing.
About the RoleThis is a varied and rewarding leadership position where you will:
*Provide day-to-day leadership and support to officers across the Housing & Vulnerability team
*Lead on complex and contentious housing enforcement cases
*Drive service improvement, innovation and compliance across specialist housing functions
*Support the implementation and enforcement of renters’ rights legislation
*Oversee and mentor officers, ensuring high standards of training, performance and development
*Contribute to strategic housing initiatives and externally funded projects
*Prepare reports, witness statements and legal documentation where required
*Support the management of budgets, complaints and service performance
The role will involve working across a broad range of housing and regulatory responsibilities including:
*HHSRS inspections and enforcement
*HMO licensing
*Fire safety in high-rise residential buildings
*Public health in housing
*Asylum accommodation
*Homelessness and temporary accommodation
*Affordable and supported housing initiatives
About YouOur client is looking for a proactive and knowledgeable housing professional with:
*Significant experience in private sector housing enforcement and housing regulation
*Strong knowledge of current housing legislation and renters’ rights
*Experience managing complex casework and enforcement activity
*The ability to lead, motivate and develop staff
*Excellent communication, report writing and stakeholder management skills
*Experience working with legal processes, appeals and tribunals
*A collaborative and solution-focused approach
You will be passionate about improving housing standards and supporting vulnerable residents while helping to shape an efficient, modern and customer-focused service.
