Contract: (12 months temporary – Maternity Cover)


About the Role
An established public sector organisation is seeking an experienced People & Payroll Officer to join their HR team on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave.
This role will provide essential transactional HR and payroll support, ensuring employee records and payroll activities are accurate, compliant, and delivered in a timely manner. You will play a key role in supporting employees across the organisation while contributing to continuous improvement within HR services.


Key Responsibilities
*Deliver day-to-day HR and payroll administration support
*Maintain accurate employee records and ensure data integrity within HR systems
*Support payroll processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments
*Assist with routine reporting and data requests
*Support HR systems maintenance and updates
*Contribute to security checks and vetting processes
*Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures
*Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation
*Identify opportunities for service improvement within HR processes


Person Specification


Essential Skills & Experience
*Previous experience in HR administration and/or payroll support
*Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
*Experience maintaining HR systems and employee records
*Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information professionally
*Strong organisational and time management skills
*Good communication and interpersonal skills
*Proficient in Microsoft Office and HR/payroll systems


Desirable
*Experience working in the public sector
*Knowledge of payroll legislation and compliance
*Experience supporting HR processes such as vetting or onboarding
