Full job descriptionReception Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support (Autism)
Start Date: 8th June, Full Time (Until End of Academic Year, with potential to go permanent)
A welcoming primary school is seeking a dedicated and experienced Reception Teaching Assistant to join their Early Years team from 8th June through to the end of the academic year.
This role will involve providing 1:1 support for a pupil with autism, helping them to access learning, develop social skills, and feel confident within the classroom environment. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support, following individual learning and behaviour plans.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience working with children with SEND, particularly autism, and be confident using strategies to support communication, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning. Patience, consistency, and a nurturing approach are essential for this role.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s early education within a supportive school setting.
Requirements:
*Experience working with SEND, ideally autism.
*DBS on the Update Service (Or be willing to apply for one).
*Understanding of Reception or EYFS settings.
*Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
*Calm, patient, and proactive approach.
