About the RoleWe are seeking compassionate, resilient, and motivated Student Engagement Mentors to support secondary aged pupils who are currently unable to access mainstream education due to additional emotional, social, behavioural, or medical needs.
This rewarding role focuses on helping pupils successfully re-engage with education through personalised mentoring, pastoral support, and collaborative working with families, schools, and external professionals.
Support may take place in a variety of settings including schools, homes and alternative learning environments. You will play a key role in helping young people overcome barriers to learning, improve attendance and engagement, and achieve positive outcomes.
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle with appropriate business insurance are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities*Deliver personalised mentoring and engagement support for pupils
*Support young people transitioning back into education settings
*Build positive relationships with pupils, families, schools, and external professionals
*Use restorative and trauma-informed approaches to support engagement
*Contribute to multi-agency meetings and support planning
*Maintain accurate and professional records relating to pupil progress and engagement
*Support strategies that promote wellbeing, safety, attendance, and positive outcomes
*Act as a consistent advocate and positive role model for young people
What We Are Looking ForEssential*Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH / additional emotional, behavioural, or medical needs
*Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
*Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
*Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
*High emotional intelligence, resilience, and a non-judgemental approach
*Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Desirable*Experience within alternative provision, SEND, education, youth work, or social care settings
*Relevant qualification in Youth Work, Social Work, Counselling, or a related field
*Experience working with external agencies and multi-disciplinary teams
*Knowledge of digital safeguarding and pupil information systems
*Training in trauma-informed or therapeutic approaches
