About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in Skelmersdale. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact by supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs in both classroom and one-to-one settings.
You will work closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to help students overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities*Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
*Promote positive behaviour and implement behaviour management strategies
*Support pupils in developing emotional regulation and social skills
*Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom activities
*Create a safe, nurturing and structured learning environment
*Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils
*Support students during challenging moments with patience and resilience
Requirements*Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is essential
*Experience within a school setting is highly desirable
*Strong behaviour management skills
*Patient, resilient and empathetic approach
*Ability to remain calm under pressure
*A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
*Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE, Level 2/3 TA, or similar) are desirable but not essential
